SHEARING STATS 2009

Hinchcliffe Alpacas is very happy with our fleece results from shearing for 2009.
Go to our web site to view some of our best stat results.
Having only been breeding alpacas for just one year these excellent results together with our show ring wins at Brisbane RNA have validated our decision to further progress our transition from owning wethers to breeding herd status.
Thanks to everyone's support and loyalty in our first year we have been on a steep learning curve and still learning and sharing daily.

ROYAL BRISBANE SHOW

Hello all

Well we have returned from our first Royal Show with 2 ribbons

both Hinchcliffe Olympus and Hinchcliffe Bonaparte came away with blue and red ribbons which is excellent considering it was their first big outing and esp. Bonaparte who had his first show.

I am sure that in coming shows and as both of these young males develop they will prove to be consistent winners in the show ring.

Bonaparte was a real crowd pleaser and seemed to enjoy all the attention as did Ollie.

We are very proud of our 2 boys and their individual wins.

see att. pics.

MISTY AND CLARE

Last week end we took Clare for a visit to the farm to see Misty Boy and the alpacas.

This pic is a nice shot of Misty Boy and Clare Mum is never far away and keeps an eye out on us

Female alpacas are very protective of their crias and sometimes spit to warn you off if you handle their young it is a protective mechanism not meant to be aggressive.

Misty Boy is doing well and is a strong health male cria.

Hinchcliffe Alpacas

Hello
This is my first blog. Our alpacas had frost on their backs and on their fleece for the first time this winter - we are enduring our first taste of winter here in the mountains minus 1 and 2 temps yesterday and today...... our pregnant female Salvana who is due to have her cria must be holding on to her baby until the weather improves alpacas are very intuitive they seem to be in tune with the weather conditions very well and often if it is wet or extremely cold they don't give birth until there is an improvement before they drop their cria.
till next time
