NEW CRIA ARRIVED THIS MORNING 21/6/09

Well we have a new baby boy cria born this morning, a strong healthy solid white cria born on Bill's birthday!
Mum Salvana is doing well, no problems with birthing
It was raining early this morning but weather is clearing now so mum must have known it was going to be a fine day
We will go down to the farm to see her later today and get some pics to post on blogger
Can't wait to see him.
We have to think of a name now... any suggestions would be most welcome!!
so far our crias have all been born in this pattern , boy then girl then boy then girl now another boy!!
stay tuned for more cria news from Hinchcliffe Alpacas
cheers

Hinchcliffe Alpacas

Hello
This is my first blog. Our alpacas had frost on their backs and on their fleece for the first time this winter - we are enduring our first taste of winter here in the mountains minus 1 and 2 temps yesterday and today...... our pregnant female Salvana who is due to have her cria must be holding on to her baby until the weather improves alpacas are very intuitive they seem to be in tune with the weather conditions very well and often if it is wet or extremely cold they don't give birth until there is an improvement before they drop their cria.
till next time
